stop it!

What’s on your Stop-It-List?

I was inspired to create my own Stop-It- List after reading a brilliant post by Danielle Laporte @ White Hot Truth
Myself included, I am amazed at how long, complicated and out of alignment our own to-do-list’s can become.
Same for my clients. I love my clients and their enthusiasm. On our coaching calls they come  with strong desire to get things done and share their very lengthy and impressive to-do lists.
Things like:
Big goals:Books,Profits, Mates.Empire Building.
Important goals: Time Management.Focus. Organization.
Urgent goals: Make payroll. Revive their marriage.Health. Stress Management.
Soul goals: Freedom,  Truth, Happiness. Joy. Meaning.
All important goals, dutifully listed on the to-do-list.
Knowing what you want is obviously a plus.
What  is often missing is  the truth about what is in the way.
You know, the crazy detours that life hands us OR the roadblocks that we unwittingly create for ourselves.
What do you need to stop? Immediately?
Here are a few prompting questions to prime  the pump for your own, “stop-it ” list:
How do you sabotage your own goals?( are you a great starter, but not so good at finishing?) stop it!

What are your energy leaks?( do you let other peoples opinions or their priorities take up your time, draining your energy levels?) stop it!

What are you tolerating in your personal and work environment?( do you lack the support you truly need? do you skimp on the products and services that would make a big difference in your business? do you have loose boundaries?) Stop it!

Choose  3 things you are committed to STOP doing!
And…stop doing them.
I promise you, your personal and professional life will get a huge energy boost. The simple exercise of cutting out what is unnecessary, draining, or toxic will allow you more available energy to do what really matters to you.
What will you stop doing?
Are you ready to  do what really matters most?

Anything You Do with Heart, is Art- Part 2

Recently I posted this short article & some pictures of my current art project, a gigantic abstract painting that will be hung in our living room. In that post I shared what one of my favorite thought leaders & bloggers,Seth Godin said about art: Seth’s definition of art contains three elements:

1. Art is made by a human being.
2. Art is created to have an impact, to change someone else.
3. Art is a gift. You can sell the souvenir, the canvas, the recording… but the idea itself is free, and the generosity is a critical part of making art.

By Seth’s definition, most art has nothing to do with oil paint or marble. Art is what we’re doing when we do our best work.

I so LOVE this expansive view of what art truly is. It can be how you craft just the right words for your next presentation, selecting them with care and the intention to move your audience to take action, or the beautiful proposal that you put together for your newest client, or the way to bring your fun loving self to the meeting lifting spirits and being productive as a team.

I’ve recently taken up painting with acrylics, honoring a long time burning desire… My first go-round at this has been a rather large undertaking… to paint an abstract painting to go into our living room. What can I say, I am an overachiever :)

Here’s where I started and here’s where my painting is today
