Marketing to the Affluent

Here’s a recent pic of me with marketing guru, Dan Kennedy, author of the
“No BS Series” on the topics of business, marketing and sales. Dan was gracious enough to pose for a photo with me after he gave his presentation at the Cleveland American Marketing Association meeting. Dan did NOT disappoint!

Here are Dan’s 3 top tips for making yourself “magnetic” to the more affluent customer:

1. Develop and display your expertise. People want to do business with those they perceive to be a trusted, respected resource.

2. Offer a product/service that provides a “done for you” aspect to it. This is very attractive to the well-to-do baby boomers who feel the strain of too much to do and not enough time to do it all.

3. Respect your customer. Treat them like royalty. Royalty creates loyalty!

I highly recommend all of Dan’s books – they are essential reading for the entrepreneur and business owner! Let me know what you think!

Our “Marketing Magic!” seminar held last Friday, July 18th, was AMAZING! We had a really great group of participants, lots of learning, networking and best of all, everyone got super clear on their own unique marketing styles. We had Fierce Marketers, Butterfly Marketers, Mad Scientist Marketers, and “BFF” marketers there. There was lots of high energy and fun had by all.

Tour de Colleges for the Diana Long Family

On a personal note, our family recently traveled to visit the Seattle area on a “Tour de Colleges.” It was a vacation with a “purpose” because we visited several colleges while having a wonderful time as a family. We loved Seattle! We lucked out with beautiful weather, blue skies, blue ocean, snow capped mountains, lots of Starbucks coffee, and fresh fish for dinners. Seattle is also big on sustainability and living green. I learned that the state of Washington is one of the “greenest” states in the nation. It was a very inspirational trip.

Did Emily decide on a college? Not yet, we’ll be visiting Asheville and Montreal before the end of the year!

Another psychology major in the family!

Our son, Justin, graduated from OU with a major in psychology. Just like his mom! I couldn’t be more proud. The featured speaker at the graduation, Peter King, a senior writer for Sports Illustrated, gave the audience sage advice and he made us laugh too. It was a great weekend!
