Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you really need to do in order to have what you want. I couldn’t have said this any better! This wisdom is from Margaret Young. My coaching challenge for you? This weekend, be bolder. Be more true to yourself. Do what you love. Pay attention to how your life flows and what comes to you.

Spring! Glorious Spring.

Things are beginning to green up again and the shoots of daffodils, tulips, and crocus are pushing their way out of the dark, cool ground.

Over the weekend, my husband and I took stock of what the effects of winter winds, snow & ice storms created in our own backyard.

Tons of debris was left over from this past season.

Dead wood, fallen branches, and moldy leaves needed to be cleared.

As we all know, we’ve got to clear out the old so the new can come in. And for new growth to take hold and flourish, as garden experts tell you, the old dead “stuff” must be collected and removed.

What clutter have you accumulated in this past season?

What stands in the way of your dreams, your goals, and your version of your ideal business and life?

What are your dreams? Do you long to write and publish your own book? Paint in watercolors? Write a screenplay that will be adapted into a blockbuster movie? Break the 7 figure mark?

What is the “stuff” that is cramping your style your style, holding you back from realizing your dreams and goals?

Napoleon Hill was quoted to say, “If your mind can conceive it, and you believe it, you can achieve it.” In order for your personal garden to grow and thrive, for you to live the life you were meant to live, it is so crucial to identify and RELEASE the mental & physical clutter that holds you back.

Spring clean your attitudes, resentment, attachments, fears, limiting beliefs and doubts and watch how clearing this clutter brings you an abundance of opportunities, cash, and new connections.

Got overwhelm?

Join the club. ( There’s are a lot of members!)

Try this experiment today: Ask everybody you meet today: “how are you?”

The probability is extremely high that you will hear:

“Ok…., but I am really swamped.”

“I can’t seem to get “it”( fill in the blank) all done.”

“I just don’t have enough time. “

We are all swimming, some of us drowning in the sea of “too much” Too much to do, too much to process, too many people to respond to, too many things to read, do, execute, etc etc etc.

Wouldn’t you rather have less stress? Fewer problems? More ease?

I thought so!

Join me at “No Problem Bridge” .

Seriously, No Problem Bridge really exists. ( I snapped this photo this in Aspen,Colorado near John Denver’s memorial park)

The best practice to reduce the stress in your life and in your business is to Simplify.

Author Bill Jenson writes in Simplicity, the New Competitive Advantage, that simplicity is about power.

Simplicity is the power to do less ( of what doesn’t matter)

Simplicity is the power to do more ( of what does matter)

Big difference.

Imagine that you have clarity, focus and are in flow with all of your projects. Your creativity is in high gear. You’ve got the resources. The right people show up at just the right time to help you accomplish your outcome. Your energy level is high. You feel great. Things get done. Life is good.

Each of us can have this experience.

The key is to simplify. Do an honest inventory and let go of what no longer is a fit for you in your business or your life.

Coaching challenge for you this week?

Streamline your life. Simplify. Downsize. Clear the Clutter.

Your end result?

Radically fewer problems. Less drama. Less stress.

Life on purpose, without all the “fillers’

Brilliant!

The Key to Planning & Designing a Joyful Business & Personal Life

As this year comes to completion, it is the perfect time to take “stock” of what worked well for you this year AND what didn’t.

Just the other day, one of my newer clients, whom I will call Julie as to protect her identity, shared with me that her life and business are running at peak capacity. From the outside looking in, her life looks very, very good. The catch? She feels like something is missing. She create a big and busy life, but truth be told, she said,”it feels like my life is running me”.

After listening deeply, together we identified all the various projects, commitments, and demands she was currently facing. After getting everything on the table, it became pretty obvious. She had created her own “monster” and it was time to pare down to the absolute essentials. She began to see why she was exhausted and unfulfilled.

In what I like to call the “Aha moment”, she said to me in a hushed tone, “Is this where I was really going?”

“I don’t think so!”

It’s easy to get caught up in the “Millionaire Mindset Bootcamp” bandwagon and follow a model that promises you rock star status in your industry, full of glitter and gold. If this is what you truly want and it gives you great joy to achieve it ,then it is clear. Go for it!

Alot of business owners I’ve met share that they feel like they’re on a treadmill of working, working and working. To what end? Often money goals are created out of group-think. Hey isn’t this what everyone wants and is working for? These goals are usually driven to have more..such as ” I want to break 7 figures in my business. The illusion is that when they make their million dollars, then life will be sweeter and they’ll be happy, finally! So the money goal is set and they put their heads down and work like a dog to try to make that happen. Often they succeed, but at what cost?

With Julie, she was able to get the clarity about what was truly a priority for her and what was no longer truly profitable and/or energizing for her. She had the true clarity about what the important values where for her and this clarity allowed her to redesign her life and business in ways that were much more in alignment for her.

Her question transformed from, “Is this where I was really going?” to clarity. She declared”Now I know what I want & where I am going AND I’m committed to enjoy ALL my life.

What a powerful place to be in. To know what you truly value and desire for your business and your life IS THE WAY to having it all!

Here are a few powerful questions that can help keep you on YOUR path ( not someone else’s)

1.What do I really want? ( Be specific about what you really, really want.)

2.What activities/projects give you joy & fulfillment? ( integrate more of these into your life)

3.What activities/projects/clients take you OUT of your joy? ( let go of old committments that no longer fit or might even be toxic to your happiness)

The bottom line is that it can be easy to get pulled into over-committing, over-doing and over-achieving. The good news, though, is that you DO have choice and these simple questions can help to align your business and life plans so that they are an absolute 100% match to your unique-ness!

Yes,indeed, it’s that time of the year when things seem to really speed up. so many things to do, so many places to go! I find that I need to have plenty of energy and my energy reserves are lagging. I look under the “hood” and see what’s draining me. For me, one of the culprits was too much NOISE from the internet. Periodically I detoxify my digital world and ruthlessly unsubscribe from uninvited emails & let go of those that just aren’t a fit for me anymore. I took action on this last week after I yet again found myself looking at blogs or hype-filled newsletters that dragged my energy down. While I was at it, I spring cleaned my Twitter & Facebook ,too. Ah, what a relief! There’s more space now. More of the good stuff flowing in. More focus. More personal free time. Here’s to you & your own digital detox. Let the party begin!

It’s easy to get out of this mode and be more realistic when you plan and set your schedule. Give yourself extra time and space to do what you need to do.

Lists, lists, lists. I’m a big fan of “The List”. Making your own “list” is simple and essential. Every morning ,get into the habit of writing down your goals for the day..If you are clear about what you want and you write it down on paper, this success habit will significantly boost your results.. Most of us are already in the habit of making to-do lists to help us navigate through our days. Here are some additional tips to help you maximize the power of your “List”

Why work harder than you need to?

1. Do What’s Doable: First determine what is realistic and humanly possible for one day’s time. For items that you’re not quite yet sure yet how you’ll handle, my recommendation to put those items in a separate column entitled “Universe, Please Handle This.” The fact is that we should focus our energy on what’s doable and what we are readily able to do. Some of the items on your list may be complex ,requiring multiple actions steps and have no “immediate, clear-cut solution.” That’s ok. By putting your goals on paper, you create a focus which allows for new possibilities and new synchronicities!

2. Be Intentional: Each and every morning, start your day by simply declaring how you want each day to unfold. By stating these simply declarations of how and what you’d like to experience the upcoming day you actually “set the tone” for a successful and purposeful day. Here’s a couple of examples: “ My day flows easily and smoothly.” or “My presentation is positively received” or “I close the deal” Think this sounds a bit simplistic? You’re right, it is. I challenge you to be intentional about each and every day. Be the “designer: of your life. Do this practice for 21 days and astonish yourself with the results you experience!

3. Create Master Checklists: Save yourself tons of time by creating and using checklists so that you don’t duplicate your efforts each and every time you work. A few days ago, I ordered carryout from my favorite Asian restaurant, Molly Woos, which is known for their great food and exceptional service. When I peeked into their kitchen I saw a paper checklist: Chopsticks? Check. Fortune cookie? Check. Brown rice? Check. Smart idea, smart company. (Now if only every fast food drive-thru would use the check list method!) What are projects that you do more than one time? I highly recommend you document steps or items necessary to carry out the project to completion. Could be a packing list, shopping list, or a presentation from start to finish checklist. Make your life easier and simpler by creating “Master Checklists”, it will save you time AND your sanity!

To Your Success!

You’ve seen the movie, The Secret, you’ve made a Vision Board, you are self-correcting self-limiting thoughts. You are doing lots of the “right” things to achieve those big goals of yours.

But wait… things aren’t exactly going the way you would like them to. You are up to your eyeballs with personal and work commitments. You feel stressed and overworked!

Maybe your business and your personal life are in a slump, even though your are trying harder than ever to juggle everything, trying to make everything work out.

In a past survey I conducted, I asked people what their top challenge was with time management. Hands down, the biggest challenge people face is how to prioritize! It seems that in the age of excess, we have an absolute abundance of opportunities, choices and decisions to make everyday.

Our To-Do lists begin to resemble an unraveling, never ending Scroll of Actions to be taken. It’s making my palms sweat, just by talking about this! In the meantime, it can appear that the BIG GOAL, THE BIG DREAM, continues to be pushed to the back burner because, darn it, there’s just not enough time to do everything. Sound familiar?

Good News! There is a solution to this time management dilemma. It’s called the “Art of Prioritization”. It’s critical to your success (both personally and professionally) that you know and act on your priorities.

1. The way to do this is to select your “Big Goal (I’d limit the number of Big Goals to 1 Personal Goal and 1 Business Goal) What do you want to achieve in the next 90 days?

2. Do a Weekly Check-In. (My clients receive their own Weekly Success Worksheet every week, so they stay clear, on track and are accountable to their big goal) (Once a week, I do my Weekly Success Check-In sitting outside by the pool) Determine what you want to accomplish this week related to your 90 Day Goal. Take those actions and immediately plug them into your calendar for the upcoming week.

3. Stay true to yourself and your BIG GOALS by doing what you need to do in the upcoming week. When other “things” come up you MUST ask yourself, “Does doing this move me closer to my desired goal?” You’ve got to do some “tough love” with yourself. It’s easy to get distracted and get interrupted everyday with things that just aren’t that important.

Be strong.

Be accountable.

Say NO so that you can say YES! to your Goals and Dreams!

To Your Success!
